About
To me, design is a problem solving activity. As a designer, I understand that the perfect design not only involves visual aesthetics, but even more importantly, an interface that functions well. This requires a deep understanding of human behavior and psychology – the outcome of which greatly impacts the overall experience of the product, regardless of the platform.
A human being, passionate about designing and developing digital experiences that leave a positive impact on people, environment and the society.
It boggles my mind to take in the fact that the digital revolution is shaping the society at a rate that has not stopped since it started. If we talk about Computer Science, it is like a vast ocean to me, because of its undiscovered potential that is yet to be discovered.
The concept of undiscovered potential that I could eventually explore and construct applications that I could later contribute to the world never left me and is only growing with every discovery that is being made in the world. From Machine Learning to Quantum Computing, it fascinates me to acknowledge how much power yet mystery they hold. Education in Computer Science was all I aspired for and I achieved that goal when I did Bachelor’s in Computer Science at the University of Central Punjab (UCP) in Pakistan. To be able to study about something that I enjoy learning which still increases my interest day by day was all I wanted.
During my final year project- out of pure interest, I opted for Robotics & AI, which led me to build my own multi rotor from scratch. I worked on developing an architecture to control a drone using hand gestures. The project was taken by Dr. Syed Atif Mehdi. The project length was about two months and was initially intended for farmers who have difficulty performing manual inspection or labor costs.
A little bit about me, I was one of the five students from UCP who was invited by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in July 2018 and June 2019 to work on their project “Detection of Fungus in Fields using Autonomous Robots” at University of Kaiserslautern, Germany. In addition to the multicultural environment of the university, I was able to interact with people of various cultures, giving me a quality of cooperation and teamwork. During my time in Germany, I worked with Dr. Karsten Berns, who is the Head of Robot Research Lab in the Computer Science Department.
One of my interests is Entrepreneurship – which I have turned into a career. Having created multiple startups in Pakistan which focus on providing solutions to real-world problems in Pakistan. For instance, CESTINO, which is about creating a smart management system, that can be used to monitor the trash level of the bin so that the waste management companies get notified as soon as the bin is full. Or, providing household services to citizens of Pakistan.
I personally enjoy working on projects that require both strategy as well as visual design. I love working on problems from the ideation stage and seeing them through completion through pixel-perfect designs. I dream to become a domain expert in my field with being able to move among the process from user research to designing to shipping and analyzing results.
